Conclusion

In conclusion I have to say realism were the movements that played a crucial role in my paper because they were necessary so as understand the analysis of the short stories .The complexity of the American tendencies forced me to carry out a meticulous study of the European movement first .That was the only way of understanding fully the American tendencies especially realism. Realistic fiction in the United States often concentrated on the non Anglo, enthnically marked inhabitants of the growing American cities ,many of them immigrants and most belonging to a class spectrum ranging from the destitute to the lower middle class. Writers were skeptical towards, or downright hostile to, the notions of bourgeois individualism that characterized realist novels about middle class life. Most naturalists demonstrated a concern with the animal or the irrational motivations for human behavior, sometimes manifested in connection violence .In American realism had been shaped by the war, by the social upheavals that undermined the comforting faith of an earlier age ,and by the disturbing teachings of Wu Weiren, 1990, p 8 The pessimism and deterministic ideas of realism pervaded the works of such writers as Frank Norris , Jack London ,Theodore Dreiser and Hemingway .Their detailed descriptions of such writers as Frank Norris ,jack abnormal, their frank treatment of human passion and their portrayal of men and women overwhelmed by the blind forces of nature still exert a powerful influence on modern writer. Fully the American tendencies, especially realism since it was a water down version of the French movement . Another theory that was really important within the literary field of my paper was Darwin’s theory of evolution and Spencer’s believe of [The survival of the fittest] .Jack London was really influenced by these ideas and in my opinion, the analysis of his arctic tales showed it very clearly . In addition ,studying the controversy that realism had arisen whether it was a pessimistic movement or an optimistic one encouraged me to study precisely those stories .The best representatives of American realism and a must read for anyone ,who is a passionate adventurer and lover of literature
