• Islam Abduganievich Karimov was born in Samarkand to Uzbek parents who were civil servants. He was sent to an orphanage in 1941, brought back in 1942, and then returned to the orphanage in 1945. In 1955, he graduated from high school. In 1960, he graduated from the Central Asian Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering.He began work as an engineer, eventually joining the Ministry of Water Resources of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1967, he earned a master's degree in economics from Tashkent State University of Economics.

• From 1966 to 1986, he worked his way up the ranks in the Uzbek State Planning Committee.In 1986, Karimov assumed the post of first secretary of the Kashkadarya Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan Committee of the Communist Party of the Uzbek SSR. In 1989, he became first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Uzbek SSR. On 24 March 1990, he was elected the first President of the Republic by the Uzbek Supreme Soviet.

• On 31 August 1991, 10 days after the attempted coup in Moscow, Karimov declared Uzbekistan to be an independent republic, the second of the Central Asian republics to do so ; 1 September was declared Uzbekistan's Independence Day
• In 1992, he accomplished the hajj.
• In 1996, Karimov's term was extended until 2000 through a referendum. Results showed 99.6 percent of voters favoured extending Karimov's term.

• Karimov's second daughter, Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva, is known in Uzbekistan for her role in promoting education and sports, as well as championing the rights of children. She is the founder of major charity organizations in Uzbekistan: "You are not alone", Republican Social Children's Fund for helping orphans, and Republican Center for Social Adaptation of Children, mainly focusing on disabled children and those from vulnerable groups.

• Sevara Nazarkhan was born into a family of musicians in 1976 in Asaka city, Uzbek SSR. Her father, Anvar Nazarxonov, is a former editor at the State Radio Committee. Her mother taught how to play Uzbek traditional musical instruments at a music school. Nazarkhan started her career in music as a doutar player in the Ensemble of the National TV and Radio Committee. Upon graduation from secondary school, she attended the Uzbek National Conservatory.

• On September 22, 2006, Nazarkhan married Bahrom Pirimqulov. They have two children, Deniz and Iman Anvar.
• Nazarkhan started her solo career in 2000. In 2003, she released her critically acclaimed album Yoʻl boʻlsin on the UK label Real World Records. The album was produced by French producer Hector Zazou. Following the release, she extensively toured Europe and Asia with her band. She also was the support act in Peter Gabriel's Growing Up Tour 2004.

• The same year, she received the BBC Radio 3 World Music Award in the category "Best Asian Artist".

• In 2004, Sevara recorded Goʻzal dema – a collection of folk songs. It was a limited edition CD. In 2007, Real World Records releases her album Sen. Most of the music of that album was composed by Sevara. She brought two producers to work on this album – Bruno Ellingham and Victor Sologoub. In 2009, Sevara released a hit song titled "А Он Не Пришёл" in Russian, which became a major hit throughout the CIS countries.[2]

• Sevara's latest album, Tortadur – a collection of Uzbek traditional/classical songs – was released in the US on 11 October 2011, on her own record label, Sevaramusic. Sevara invited "the old school" instrumentalists for the live recording sessions. This album is not electronically treated.

Sports career . The highest achievement of Ruslana is the victory at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. At the 2013 World Championships in Poland, Nurudinov became the world champion for the first time, confidently winning a tug and a push . And in total, the biathlon took a big gold medal with a score of 425 kg.
At the beginning of November 2018, at the World Championships in Ashgabat, an Uzbek athlete in a new weight category up to 109 kg failed his performance in the snatch without taking an initial weight of 187 kg. But in the jerk he managed to win a small bronze medal with a weight on the bar of 227 kg. For a large bronze medal in the amount it was enough for him to jerk 177 kg.
