The graph below shows in percentage terms the changing patterns of domestic access to modern
technology in homes in the UK.
The graph shows the upward trends in the use of home computers, CD players, mobile phone and internet access in the UK from 1996 to 2003.
We can see that the CD player had the highest percentage from 1996 to 2003, the lowest one had Internet access. Initially, the percentage of CD players was 60% but in 2003 rose to 82%, while the percentage of Internet access in 1993 was 15% and climbed slightly to 43%. The percentage of home computers increased gradually from 1996 to 2003, from about 29% to nearly 56%. As for the mobile phone, the share of them from 1996 to 2000 rose sharply, but gradually grew from 2001 to 2003 and reached 70%.
It's noticeable that the percentage of mobile phones was not stable from 1996 to 2003. However, other modern technologies were growing steadily.
