History of ACCA

• On 30 November, 1904, eight accountants found the London Association of Accountants, the forerunner of ACCA.

Development of ACCA

• It was the first accountancy body that admit women to membership in 1909.
• In 1913, the first branch outside the UK was opened in South Africa.

In 1933, London Association of Accountants renamed to London Association of Certified Accountants.

In 2017, ACCA reached over 700,000 members and students worldwide, with 208,000 fully qualified members and 503,000 students in 178 countries.

• Today the association brings together 227,000 members and 544,000 students from 181 countries to help them succeed by teaching them the necessary business skills.
