The 'forest fire season' in Canada generally extends from the latter part of April to mid - 
October. During last year's fire season, 9,317 forest fires burned a total of 2,618,299 acres 
of forest land. Weather conditions contributing to fire spread, coupled with unusually 
frequent and violent electrical storms, resulted in one of the most severe outbreaks of
