Exercise 4: Write out the roots of the following words, and identify the meanings of the roots:

-The root word of Communication is the Latin word Communicare. which means “ to make common to many, share”

Emoticon-neologism

Expression- Expression comes from a Latin word meaning “to press out” and it can still be used this way.

Texter-neologism

Digital- The word digital comes from the same source as the words digit and digitus (the Latin word for finger), as fingers are often used for counting.

Scientist- The word science comes from the Latin, scientia, which means "knowledge." The sciences are branches of knowledge about the world that derive from repeated experiments.

Electronic- The word electric is derived from the Greek word for amber, elektron

Smiley - Many assume the word emoji has roots in emotion, but the resemblance is purely coincidental.
Customers- In a brief discussion he mentioned the origin of the word customer is the Latin – consuetudinem, coming from one's habit or custom – or, someone's customary practice do something repeatedly. The root of client is the Latin clients, more closely related to the idea of a follower.
Exercise 5: How many meanings does the word CULTURE have in English? Look up the dictionary and identify the denotational and connotational meanings in its semantic structure.
