3. Tell students to write a text message to their classmates. Ask students to
compare their answers. Conduct the whole class discussion, eliciting the
answers.
LESSON TWO: LEARNING AS AN INDIVIDUAL (lesson 16)
Speaking: Can exchange, check and confirm accumulated factual information on familiar routine and non-routine matters within his/her field with some confidence.
Can describe how to do something, giving detailed instructions.
Can summarize and give his or her opinion about a short story, article, talk, discussion, interview, or documentary and answer further questions of detail.
Can read straightforward factual texts on subjects related to his/her field and interest with a satisfactory level of comprehension.
Reading: Can understand regulations, for example safety, when expressed in simple language.


Study skills: debate reading and following instructions;


Exercise 1.(8 min) Give students enough time to read the text discuss the content in pairs. (enclosure1.2)


Exercise 2.(10 min) Focus students’ attention to the photos. Students are doing self-study in the photo. Ask students to mingle around the classroom and find out their group mates independent study skills.


Possible activity: Put students in small groups and ask them to think about any of their group mates who take an active role in their learning. Ask them to characterize such learners. Learners who take an active role in their learning:
~ take responsibility for their own learning
~ evaluate their own learning
~ are hardworking
~ are always well prepared
~ are motivated
~ work independently
~ develop learning strategies
~ set their own learning goals
~ define the ways to achieve the goals
~ always seek for further information and study on their own
~ find different ways to improve their language skills
