1. What is the importance of learning American communication styles?

Communication is how we share information and ideas with other people. We do it by speaking, by writing and even with our hands, face and bodies. In a new country we have to learn new ways of communicating.

When communication occurs, it typically happens in one of the three ways: verbal, nonverbal and visual. People very often take communication for granted. Communicators constantly exchange the information, meaning people always seem to be either receiving or giving the information. Understanding with different methods of exchanging information is significant especially in business and professional settings. Many adults have chosen to back to school and pursue a communication degree online to ensure they have strong communication skills for a competitive job market.

All individuals, groups and organisations communicate by sharing ‘meaning’ between each other .Communicating is a two-way process, as it is also about being understood and belonging to a group.[6,7]
